Taking Place

14th April 2007 : London Met

Taking Place, The Facility's thrid international symposium, took notions of place and explored them through performance.

Increased immigration and emigration, homelessness, globalisation and emerging technologies have radically altered notions of place and placelessness. Environmental psychologists and cultural geographers have argued that place is central to our understanding of the human condition. Place in understood to be both socially constituted and constitutive of the social.

The symposium showcased five exciting pieces of performance as research in the context of academia and industry discussion and debate. Work included dance, live and performance art and theatre.
