9th - 12th November 2006 : London Metropolitan University
The Facility co-hosted the International Improvisation Festival 'Escapade' during9th - 12th of November 2006, in collaboration with 'movingartsbase', one ofBritain's most innovative movement and dance training resource centres. The festival, co-organised by Thomas Kampe, aimed to be an international forum For Training in and performance of cutting edge approaches to improvisational practices and brought more than 300 participants into the University, as performers, workshop leaders, spectators and students.
The event featured workshops, debates and performances by leading artists and educators from around the globe. Performances took place over three nights at the Rocket Theatre and included dance, music and theatre based work, including performances by visually impaired dancers, improvised story tellers, Digital DJ's, HipHop dancers, music and movement ensembles. 'Emerging Artists' platform performances offered an opportunity for Londonmet Performing Arts students to perForm amongst established performers. This event was financially supported by a National Lottery Grant, Islington Council, The Facility and anumber of local businesses.
