Experiences and Needs of Horn of Africa Children in Islington Schools

Overview


The project aims to explore the educational experiences and needs of Horn of Africa (Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan) children in Islington schools. The project consists of 3 stages:

  • Analysis of quantitative examination results (by Cambridge Education@Islington’s statistics unit)
  • Fieldwork in 4 schools; 2 primary and 2 secondary schools to gather qualitative data;
  • A report will be produced to Cambride Education@Islington. The project aims to explore the educational experiences of the Horn of Africa children in Islington schools and to identify their needs. The researchers will make recommendations, which can be used to inform teacher practice, and develop further good practice in enhancing the achivement of Horn of Africa children in Islington schools.
