Evaluation of the Science Enhancement Programme in London (SEPIL)

Funded by

Gatsby Technical Education Projects

Timescale

January 2006 - July 2006

Overview

The Science Enhancement Programme in London (SEPIL) built on an earlier enhancement programme provided at King's College (SEPAK). It aimed to provide an enhanced training for a selected group of science PGCE students from the Institute of Education, King's College, and the University of East London. In particular, it aimed to develop students' knowledge and understanding of the physical sciences, and to enable students to develop confidence teaching outside their main subject specialism.

The evaluation involved interviews with tutors and students, and a survey of SEPIL and other science PGCE students.

A report was submitted to Gatsby Technical Education Projects at the end of July.
