Funded by:

the London Development Agency and the European Social Fund

Timescale:

July 2003 - February 2005

Online:

Ontrack is a project conducted by the London Grid for Learning, the project seeks to support 400, 13-17 year olds from black minority ethnic groups who are currently excluded, or at risk of exclusion by:

  • The development of an on-line dynamic, interactive wide range of on-line learning services
  • A community-based support network of professional educational advisors
  • Piloting the design and delivery of the programme by working with an initial cohort (100 beneficiaries) in developing the content of learning modules to ensure that the project fully meets the needs of BME communities and fully engages the target group.

The evaluation covered 3 key areas of the project:

1. The relationships between the participating organisations

2. Problem solving capacities within the project

3. The experiences of the pupils

The evaluation took a 3 strand methodological approach consisting of interviews with key stakeholders, case studies of 4 pupil referral units and desk based research involving an email survey and documentary analysis of the project's policies and practices.
