MA-ism
The Sir John Cass Department of Art Media and Design is pleased to
invite you to its annual on-line Postgraduate exhibition. Entitled MA-ism, the exhibition showcases our postgraduate students' work in the areas of design, fine art, furniture, photography, digital video, printmaking and jewellery.

We welcome Mah Rana as an honorary Visiting Research Fellow for Silversmithing & Jewellery. She will be working within our research community until approximately June 2008.

Mah joins us as a leading international jeweller with many relevant research strands which support and develop current departmental research in this area. At present, Mah is working on two major research projects, one with MIMA and another under development with the University of Surrey on modes of communication.

Alongside disseminating and presenting research to the Department, Mah will be working onsite using our extensive S&J resources to develop a new body of gold jewellery. Examples of her exquisite artefacts & photographic projects can be seen on her website www.mahrana.com.

This research project is about the processes involved in making artwork. The first presentation is at The Michael West Gallery, Quay Arts, Newport, Isle of Wight until 14 January 2007. The goal is to install a beautiful and stimulating exhibition, which also explores the specialist and idiosyncratic 'work' of studio practice. The intention is to 'demystify' and share the pleasure of materials, processes, labour and discovery and extend an invitation to the viewer to join in.

Student documentaries screened on BBC London News
Some documentaries on the 2012 Olympics created by our first year Film & Broadcast Production students were selected and screened on BBC London bulletins recently. One looked at Taekwondo and another at the Mile End Athletics Stadium. More will be streamed shortly on the BBC website.
