Cass students enjoy Night at The (Design) Museum

Five students from BA (Hons) Graphic Design at The Cass (The Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Media and Design) were invited to show their work at Design Overtime, the late night event at at the Design Museum following their successful participation in the Museums educational programme The Design Factory.

This year's Design Factory brief Creating a Great Moment: Communication in the Public Realm was set by leading designers Kennard Phillips. The students were asked to find new ways to engage with the everyday to communicate messages about the world, as a designer and as a citizen. The winning students were invited to take part in a special symposium and present their interventions at Design Overtime.

Camilla Fiskerstrand made a large paper tree from Metros to draw attention to the massive use of paper in the newspaper industry.

Rachel Kirk
produced a statement about the ongoing displacement of residents in Central London. Her type is made from lime powder so the message is displaced by footfall.

Eduardo Beer-Svendsen
designed and made a game to draw attention to the current misconceptions about the Graphics industry.

Ida Granholt
created a publication which she distributed as a newspaper seller to confront the public with their lack of engagement with real news.

Claire Brooks
made a balloon outfit to draw attention in a light hearted way to the problems of respecting personal space in an urban setting.
