An upholstery student at the Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design, has set up a new design business in Islington. Artel House is a collaboration of craftspeople including designers, sculptors and photographers who all share a vision of creating unique pieces of furniture that are both traditional and modern at the same time

Postgrad design students take part in workshop for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Postgraduate design students from the Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design joined students from the Royal College of Art and the University of East London last month in a collaborative project for the London 2012 Olympics.

The students were asked to inject their creativity and inventiveness into a design venture. The brief invited the 50 artists and designers to reinvent the "gabion" structures that will be used extensively on the Olympic site in Stratford, East London

London Met Ambassadors for Coutts London Jewellery Week

London Metropolitan University have been appointed as the educational ambassadors for Coutts London Jewellery Week. Taking place from 11-15 June this year, Coutts London Jewellery Week will be the first time that the jewellery industry has united to celebrate the excellence of creative design in the capital.

The event will offer the public a journey of discovery into the world of jewellery across London, from over 200 established designers to undiscovered treasures exhibiting at numerous locations across the capital, including the Tower of London and Cockpit Arts

The combined achievements of Metropolitan Works and the London Metropolitan Polymer Centre were recognised at the prestigious Hidden Art Awards on 13 December, when they won a joint award for ‘Most Active Associate/ Pool of Specialists Member.’
