JCAMD Academic at major international film event

Jane Barnwell, Senior Lecturer in Film and Broadcast Production at the Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design, will be speaking at a major Film Design Conference in Venice at the end of November.

Jane’s talk will discuss the work of celebrated British Oscar-winning film production designer, Peter Lamont. Lamont will also be present at the conference to give a masterclass entitled Sense of Realism, Sense of Visionary.

Peter Lamont (pictured) has been a production designer on a number of James Bond films including For Your Eyes Only and the most recent Bond movie, Casino Royale. He has been nominated for an Oscar three times and in 1997 he won the award for his work on James Cameron’s Titanic.

Lamont’s masterclass will be accompanied by a convention entitled New frontiers in contemporary scenography: the digital age. The event is organised by The Scenographer, the international journal of production and costume design.

Jane Barnwell is an experienced academic and practitioner at London Met, whose research interests include production design in film, the construction of cinematic space and the creation of domestic space on screen. Jane is the author of Architects of the Screen and has recently been commissioned to write The Fundamentals of Film making.
