The Frederick Parker Furniture Company archive, together with the collection of chairs and the collection of carvings that Frederick Parker himself purchased to inspire his designers and furniture makers, are on permanent loan to London Metropolitan University. The chairs are on public display in a purpose-built gallery and the carvings and archive are in secure storage. Information about this collection needs to be in the public domain, available to the research community and the wider public.

This paper details the importance and scope of the collections and archive. It is one of a number of parallel initiatives to raise the profile of the collection and is a sequel to a presentation given in November 2006 for the 20th Century Furniture Research Group Conference organised by BCUC, High Wycombe and held at the V & A, London. This described the methodological process of cataloguing collections of furniture, and in particular chairs. It included a review of traditional published sources and compared them to our current work on an on-line catalogue. This has led to discussions regarding future collaboration on cataloguing of collections with Bucks New University (formerly BCUC).
