Mick Williamson
Print Room exhibition

The Photographers Gallery

December 1, 2006 - January 1, 2007

work: twelve pieces

For this group exhibition, Zoe Bingham, Print Gallery manager, selected twelve framed silver gelatin photographs from the ongoing reserach project, The Photo-Diaries of Mick Williamson. The aim of this project is to create a sustained enquiry into the processes of recording, documenting and celebrating the daily and everyday transitory events that form our everyday lives.

Mick is one of the photographers represented by the Photographers Gallery who hold a selection of his work following a previous group exhibition at the Photographers Gallery in January 2001.

"Williamson’s photographs act as fragments and his work can be seen as an on-going exploration into the transitory and random nature of existence. However his images are not sombre but celebratory, and in the combination of everyday subjects and unassuming technique Williamson offers us something of the wide-eyed wonder and fascination of a child’s vision filtered through an adult sensibility" (Photographers Gallery website)

The group of work shown in this exhibition focused on the domestic interior and is related to that shown in the exhibition Interior Insights at the Royal College of Art in 2005. Some of these photographs are also held in the AHRB Domestic Interiors database.
