Student Support

Learning Development Unit

"The LDU is committed to encouraging students to develop and enhance their academic skills and offers support to students of all levels of ability, at all stages of study"

London Metropolitan University Learning Development offers study help and support to all its students - and staff.

Access to learning development and support is the right of all London Metropolitan students. To this end, we offer a range of provision across the two Campus Sites. This includes study and academic skills, academic literacy, maths and basic IT for academic purposes. All of our provision is free.

Student Services

The Department of Student Services provides high quality (matrix quality standard accreditated) advice, information, support and guidance across both campuses to all students at the University.

We are here to help you make your time at London Metropolitan University a success. You can find a wealth of information on our webpages or you can e-mail, telephone or come and visit us in our of our Student Services centres.

Students' Union

MetSU, the Students' Union for London Metropolitan University, is a bustling and diverse environment. We offer support and representation to all of the 35,000 students at London Met - be they part time, full time on degree or non-degree courses we make sure all students' views are heard.

As a Union, we at MetSU pride ourselves in getting students involved. Be it through our highly sucessful Peer Support Scheme that last year offered employment to well over 100 students, and helped many more, to our clubs and societies that help develop students and provide a variety of experiences in a safe and productive atmosphere.

Undergraduate Centres

The Undergraduate Centres (UGCs) have been set up to provide and facilitate holistic advice and support to ensure that your experience as an undergraduate student is as successful and as enjoyable as possible. Much of the information related to your study at the University as well as your course are kept in the UGCs, including your course handbook, timetable, and student handbook. Also Personal Academic Advisers (PAAs) can be accessed in the UGCs.

Every student is allocated to a PAA in one of the UGCs. The location of your UGC depends on your course and the academic Department that runs it. Single honours, Foundation Degree and HND students are allocated to the UGC in the building in which their course is based while joint students are allocated to the UGC associated with the first subject (alphabetically) of their course combination.

The Graduate School

The Graduate School is home to the Research Office and the Postgraduate Centres. The Research Office deals with the administration of research degrees, provides advice and support to research degree students, and plays a central role in facilitating the University's Research Policy.

The Postgraduate Centres support students on the postgraduate courses based in the building where they are taught. They are the location for student advice and guidance, and course information.
