Community work

The Sir John Cass Department of Art Media and Design is involved in a number of community programmes throughout London. There are opportunities for students to participate in these projects gaining valuable skills while promoting education and art to the wider community.

Some of the recent projects have included:

  • Working with young patients who are in hospital and suffering from long-term illness, to produce photographs and murals for the ward

  • Collaborating with young people in Poplar to produce a number of art forms including performance, dance, painting, sculpture and photography

  • Working with the Tower of London outreach programme to develop a piece of work for a hoarding surrounding a redevelopment site at the Tower

  • An exhibition aimed at promoting the visual arts to the visually impaired - directly involving them in a project that addresses the notion of the visual sense
