Keywords/Abstract
This paper aims at a brief presentation of political education evolution in Greek primary schools, and also to define the need for curriculum reform due to national and international developments. Specifically, we will try to determine the way that social and political contexts, and the development of pedagogical thinking, have affected the nature of political education in modern Greece. We will then compare political education curricula in 1957 and 1984, in order to detect similarities and differences in the proposed political values. Finally, we will evaluate approaches to the teaching of political values, through the analysis of curriculum materials.
