Comments: In order to gain influence, it is necessary to be able to speak well. In a democratic society, the teaching of oral skills is crucial. Hence, to develop citizenship education it is necessary to develop knowledge about speech education. The intention is to develop assessment criteria which act as guidelines for teaching. The overall aim of this study is to examine what is assessed by describing the children's speech, developing and testing criteria for the assessment of the children's speech as well as describing and analysing children's language proficiency in speech in relation to this assessment. For qualitative purposes, a description of the phenomenon is given first of all. Following this, the causal connections are sought with the help of quantitative methods. It was shown that the chosen parameters of language were connected significantly with the assessment of presentation. According to this study, the skills the pupils require in order to produce g! ood oral presentations can be said to be the following: the ability to take the floor, find a topic, give arguments, speak reflectively and independently play the part of the narrator.
