Comments: We want to share with others the conclusions we have drawn when we have tried to understand children's social life and conditions from their own perspective. We describe our combination of different methods and the basic assumption and approach on which we rest our work. Our primary question is: "How is it possible to share children's thoughts and experiences?" This paper draws on the experience of children of various ages contributed through a combination of different methods of communication: drawings, writing essays, individual interviews, group interviews, etc.. The conditions for these ways of communicating between children and adult researchers as well as the ethical issues involved are discussed from the children's perspective.
